COTTAGE GROVE SPEEDWAY LATE
MODEL RULES - 2008
Note: The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide the
orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable
requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all
events, and, by participating in these events, all drivers are to have deemed to
comply with these rules. No express or implied warranty of safety shall result
from publications of or compliance's with these rules and/or regulations. These
rules are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a
guarantee against injury or death to participants.
GENERAL RULES
1. Cottage Grove Speedway officials shall have authority over all events. At
their discretion of the official (s) in charge, any competitor may be
disqualified for rule violations or hazardous equipment or hazardous actions.
2. All race vehicles are subject to inspection at any time.
3. Approval of race vehicles by the inspector shall mean only that the vehicle
is approved for participation in a competitive event and shall not be construed
in any way to mean that the inspected vehicle is mechanically sound. Be it
further declared that the inspector shall not be liable for any mechanical
failure.
4. Any unsportsman like conduct by drivers, owners and/or pit crew members shall
be grounds for disqualification and will be strictly enforced. Drivers are
responsible for the conduct and actions of their crew members and shall be the
sole spokesman for the race team. Drivers will be paid all moneys and must
furnish Cottage Grove Speedway with their valid social security number or tax
number and current address.
5. Absolutely no alcohol beverages or illegal drug in the pit area. Absolutely
no alcohol beverage will be consumed by the drivers or their pit crews prior to,
or during Cottage Grove Speedway event. Use, sale or distribution of illegal
drugs at any time shall be immediate and indefinite disqualification.
6. All drivers must be at least 16 years of age (proof required). Drivers under
18 years of age must have a signed and notarized parental consent form, from a
parent or legal guardian. This said document must be in the hands of Cottage
Grove Speedway officials before participation of said individual would be
allowed to participate.
7. Protests. TECH INSPECTOR HAS FINAL DECISION.
8. Any Disqualification will result in loss of points and any prize money for
the night. NO EXCEPTIONS.
9. All participants will be required to have a transponder on their race
vehicle. You may purchase or rent one at the track.
BODY & CHASSIS: CHASSIS & BODY:
FULL CAGE REQUIRED.
MAXIMUM BODY WIDTH - 83"
WHEEL BASE: 101 INCH MINIMUM.
MAXIMUM BODY HEIGHT - 41" AT BACK OF CAR.
CAR MUST MEASURE NO MORE THAT 50" FROM CENTER REAR AXLE TO BACK OF BODY.
BUMPER ENDS MUST BE ROUNDED. Rear Bumper, or push bar, not to extend past rear
body panel more than 10 inches.
NO SIDEBOARDS ALLOWED. 8IN. SPOILER ALLOWED. NO WINGS ALLOWED.
Minimum weight 2250 pounds with driver after race. No traction devices of
any kind.
DRIVELINE:
Must have safety strap 2" wide.
FUEL CELL MANDATORY:
Must be attached with two 2"straps all the way around or 1" square
tubing. Bottom of fuel cell mandatory.
ENGINE:
Must be carbureted only. Aluminum heads & intake Manifold allowed. Headers
Allowed.
Not allowed: Blowers, aluminum Blocks.
Must be self-starting to begin race. If push start is needed, car will start at
the back of the pack, no exceptions.
CLUTCH / TRANSMISSION:
Any, Only (1) transmission will be allowed per car. Transmissions.
Must have (1) forward gear and (1) reverse.
FUEL:
Alcohol or Gas.. No Nitro..
SEAT:
Aluminum racing seat required.
DOOR BARS:
Steel door plates, 18 gauge or .049-inch minimum thickness metal, must be
securely welded to outside of door bars on driver's side.
TIRES:
Hoosier D45 Ok to run til July 5th 2008 After July
5th all cars must run D55 Hoosier on all 4 corners. GROOVING OR SIPING OF TIRES ALLOWED!
Speedway officials WILL NOT allow a one week grace period for cars that do not
comply to the Hoosier tire rule. Hoosier tires must be on car prior to entering
track.
WHEELS: Any
SEAT BELTS:
3" Lap belt with (5) point mounting system only. Aircraft type OK.
All belts must be securely mounted and in good condition. All belts
subject to inspection. Belts must be no more than four years old.
MUFFLERS/EXHAUST:
MANDATORY: Must meet 95db or below at 100 feet or you WILL NOT RACE. No SUPER
TRAPS.
HELMETS:
Helmets are required and must be Snell 95 or newer. Subject to inspection.
Helmet must be worn at all times when car is moving.
UNIFORMS:
Driving uniforms or racing suits of fire retardant material mandatory, at all
times when on the racetrack, in your car. Driving gloves are mandatory.
NECK BRACE REQUIRED. ARM RESTRAINTS, OR WINDOW NET. MANDATORY!
EXTINGUISHERS:
Must have a fire extinguisher in each pit area.
All numbers must be in contrasting colors on each side of the car and
roof.Running a roof is optional. Size on sides - 4" thick by 20" high.
Top - 4" thick by 30" high. Must have 8" number on the front and
rear of car.
NO 2 - WAY OR MORE COMMUNICATION DEVICES OF ANY KIND WITH DRIVER DURING ANY
EVENT.
NO REARVIEW MIRRORS OF ANY TYPE ALLOWED.
TECH INSPECTOR WILL HAVE THE FINAL DECISION ON ANY RULE IN QUESTION.
It will be policy at Cottage Grove Speedway that any car not passing class
specific rule(s) at technical inspection may, upon discretion of tech official,
be given a one week grace period to bring car into compliance with unmet rule(s).
Grace period does not apply to tire rule, or motor rule. tire rule must be met
before entering the track
