Hornets Added To Chamber Night At The Races

Cottage Grove, Oregon- This Saturday June 1st the Hornets have been added to the racing program. The race will however not count towards the 2013 championship and will be a non-point affair. The classification will be added to the card which includes the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region, IMCA Modifieds, and Street Stocks.
So far this year there have been three different main event winners in five Hornet races. Both Joe Maricle and Kolby Clay are tied for most victories with two apiece. Jim Simmons is the only other driver that has visited the winner’s circle.
Tickets for the races on Saturday are $15.00 for Adults, Senior/Military/Junior (13-17) $13.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, and Children under the age of five are FREE. Pit gates open at 2:00 PM, front gates 4:00, time trials 5:30, and racing stats around 6:45.
The Cottage Grove Speedway has hosted fast and exciting action as far back as 1956. Since then the ¼-mile banked oval has been regarded as a place where fast times are set and plenty of side-by-side racing occurs. Regular classes include 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, Late Models, Street Stocks, and Hornets from the months of April into October every Saturday night.
