A driver to look out for that is on the rise is Kady Adelman. This young lady, originally from Bend, Oregon but now residing in Salem, has made great strides since first getting into a Sprint Car four years ago. Before that she would cut her teeth in Quarter Midgets and eventually Micro Sprints. Last season she would finish runner-up in the final Northwest Extreme Sprints points including three wins and twelve top five finishes.

A former Cottage Grove Speedway Rookie of the Year award winner in both the Northwest Extreme Sprints and Huddle Automotive Repair 360 Sprints she will also try and make the entire 2014 schedule with the ASCS-Northwest Region. We got a chance to talk to Kady about how she got her start in racing, why she runs the #6A, and what he biggest racing highlight is so far. Now let’s get up to speed with Kady Adelman.

Driver: Kady Adelman
Hometown: Salem, OR
Occupation: Office Manager
Age: 19
Years Racing: 9

Classification: Huddle Automotive Repair 360 Sprint
Team: Adelman Racing
Car: 6A
Chassis: Maxim
Sponsors: Machined for Speed by Craig Jensen, Baxter Auto Parts, True Value of Brooks, BC Motorsports, K&S Motorsports
Special Thanks: Craig Jensen, and Steve Adelman (Dad)

BD: What are some of your plans in 2014?
KA: In 2014, I hope to run a full schedule with ASCS-Northwest and the 360 class at Cottage Grove. Also hope to throw in a few wingless races here and there.

BD: How did you get your start in racing?
KA: I got my start in racing by going to a quarter midget test drive day at the quarter midget track at Alpenrose Dairy in Portland. I barely idled around, as slow as the car would go, from that day I was hooked.

BD: What is your biggest racing highlight so far?
KA: My biggest racing highlight would probably be winning my first race in the Sprint Car. Overall highlight would be just getting into Sprint Cars and having the opportunity that Brian Crockett gave me to drive one.

BD: Why did you choose the #6A to race?
KA: There really is no meaning behind why I chose that number. The time just came that I needed to pick a number and I looked around and thought there aren't very many #6's that you see around. So #6 was the number, I originally wanted #6K but my dad and I agreed that #6A sounded better.

BD: How did the Micro Sprints help you out with starting your career?
KA: Micro Sprints most importantly helped me learn how to race on dirt, in Quarter Midgets I only ran on asphalt and concrete. So figuring out the dirt and how it changes so quickly was a big deal.

The Cottage Grove Speedway returns to action this Friday May 2nd for the first Kage Kart race of 2014 and Saturday May 3rd for Fan Appreciation Night. Classes in action Saturday include the Huddle Automotive Repair 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, and Hornets. The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series will be back for their final appearance of 2014 at CGS as they take on the local Late Model contingent.
