Inside Line Promotions – COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (May 14, 2014) – Patrick Dills is set for Round 2 of the Northwest Extreme Sprints at Cottage Grove Speedway this Saturday.
Weather permitting, he will return to his home track for the second points race of the season and his second career winged sprint car event.
“I’m still getting a feel for the car, making laps and getting more comfortable,” he said.
Dills’ team replaced the steering box in his sprint car after steering malfunctions hampered him in his first two races of the season – his winged and nonwinged debuts in April.
Dills was also down on horsepower throughout his season opener with the Northwest Extreme Sprints until the main event.
“Because I was down two cylinders until the main event, I’m still getting used to all eight cylinders and the power I have,” he said.
The biggest thing he learned in his first two times in a sprint car was throttle control.
“I realize that as long as you’re on the throttle the cars pretty much drive themselves,” he said. “You can’t chop the throttle or get completely out of the gas or it upsets the car really bad.”
