In addition to the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region being on tap for Cottage Grove Speedway on Friday June 13th so was the Northwest Extreme Modifieds and Hornets. Both classes would produce some entertaining races through the course of the evening.

Returning to CGS for the first time in several years was Eugene’s Justin Ryker. Ryker would lead the entire distance of the Northwest Extreme Modified feature to win the race driving for car owner David Schmidt in his EMS Truck Repair/Cindy Sew It/Oregon Concealed Training #9 Pro. Jimmy Owen of Cottage Grove was second in his Eagle Racing Graphics/Dan Martin Excavating/Dirt Tracking #27 entry.

In the Hornets Chris Pierce of Cottage Grove led for much of the race before mechanical problems would force the #28 Chevy Cavalier to surrender the lead. Junction City’s Marcel Forté would inherit the top spot in the Junction City Muffler Shop/Guaranty Chevrolet/Forté Motorsports/Twisted Bit Arena #23F Nissan Centra. But Forté would lose the lead on a restart to Taunton Swaim. Swaim, of Dexter, would lead the rest of the distance to pick up his fourth win of the year at Cottage Grove for truck owner Randy Kuhl and the Bigg Dogg Recycling/DT Machine & Fabrication/Big B Tire/Rapid Delivery Service #17 Toyata Tacoma team.

Josh Corley of Westfir would end the evening in second in his Burnett Builders/Thela’s Custom Jewelry #7C Nissan 200SX followed by the Eastside Rollforming Specialties/R&D Specialties #32 Nissan 200SX of Eric Cooper from Cottage Grove. K.C. Scott of Springfield was fourth in the Dr. Vape Products/Dalton Carpet/T.L. Morgan Motors/Quantum Mechanics #30 Mazda Protégé and behind him in fifth was Dexter’s Mike Swaim driving the Rapid Delivery/Bigg Dogg Recycling/DT Machine & Fabrication #48 Toyota Tacoma.

Cottage Grove Speedway returns to action on Saturday June 14th with the ASCS-Northwest Region, IMCA Modifieds, and Street Stocks.
