The Wild West Modified Speedweek would resume on Tuesday July 22nd at the Cottage Grove Speedway after taking Monday night off. Twenty-six cars would sign in on the registration sheets representing the states of Oregon, California, Nevada, and North Dakota.

Collen Winebarger of Corbett was very fast on the initial start putting his Discount Race Car Parts/Gordy Lee Photography/Frisbie Motorsports/Bessette Racing #SW Shaw by Jeff Taylor in the lead. Winebarger would set a rapid pace but every time he would construct a decent lead it would be cut down due to a caution.

By lap twelve Winebarger was under considerable pressure from the likes of Chowchilla, California’s Alex Stanford. Stanford would make the pass for the lead on lap twelve but as Winebarger would try and get it back the two would get together resulting in Winebarger sustaining damage and coming to a stop.

From there on out Stanford would have no issues out in front but just when he would begin to deal with lapped traffic a caution would come out. Stanford would lead the rest of the distance to score the victory for the Stanford Chopping/Golden Memorial Insurance/J&S Restaurant Equipment #98 Precision for the first time ever at CGS and his third career Mod Speedweek win.

Jesse Williamson of Coburg was second in the Dustin Comer owned S.D.M.F. Race Cars/F.M. Jones & Sons Quality Trucks and Autos/X-Factor Race Cars/K.C. Race Engines #ZERO S.D.M.F. while the Bailey Trucking/C-Bar-C Truck Sales and Parts/Rodgers Racing Engines #68 Jet of Central Point’s Jesse Bailey was third. Completing the top five finishers were Curtis Towns from Cottage Grove in fourth in his X-Factor Race Cars/Valley Rose Construction/West End Performance/IBEW Local 280 #24 X-Factor and crossing the wire in fifth would be Collen Winebarger after coming from the back of the field.

Mark Wauge from Jacksonville won the B-Main in his Dog House Racing/Hopes Construction/Payroll Specialties Inc./Rodgers Racing Engines #28M Impressive while in the Last Chance Qualifier the Producto Saw Systems/West End Performance/Devine Continuous Gutter #45S Kazzbuilt of Springfield’s Aaron Sheelar was the victor. Cottage Grove Speedway will do it all over again on Wednesday July 23rd for the fourth race of the 2014 Wild West Modified Speedweek.

Tickets are Adults $12.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a Family Pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00. Also this event will have a Carload Special, which gets a carload, truck¬load, RV-load, etc. of fans into the races for only $25.00. If for some reason the Wednesday race is cancelled due to weather then the event will be ran on Thursday July 24th with same times and with the same admission prices.
