Cottage Grove, Oregon- The Western Sprint Tour opening weekend at Cottage Grove Speedway will be having a strong presence of Washington drivers this Friday April 24th and Saturday the 25th. Among the drivers coming from the north include J.J. Hickle of Quilcene, Washington. Hickle will be piloting the family owned Meyer Electric/Hedge Carter Gutter Service/Bekkevar Logging & Trucking/Poverty Bay Bumper/Don Ott Racing Engines/Highline Performance #3 XXX. It should make for an exciting couple of nights for the Spring Showdown at the historic 1/4-mile clay oval.

“We're really excited to come back to Cottage Grove,” said Hickle, “it's always fun to go down there and race.”

The two nights of action will be the first two races ever for the history of the newly created Western Sprint Tour. Last season J.J. would finish second in points to Colin Baker for the Northwest title with his best performance of the whole year the win on Friday June 13th event at CGS marking the first time he had won an event with a touring series. He would also win two ASCS-Frontier Region events in Montana in 2014.

“Cottage Grove is definitely a special place especially getting that win there even though it was on Friday the 13th,” Hickle would say.

In 2015 Hickle has a one-hundred percent winning average as he achieved one victory in one start this year. That triumph would occur at the Central Washington State Fairgrounds in Yakima, Washington on Saturday April 4th. Will Hickle go down in history as the first main event winner in WST history?

“I'm really excited to have a good competitive series to race with. It should be a really fun year.”

Admission prices for the WST events on Friday and Saturday are Adults $15.00, Juniors/Seniors/Military $13.00, Youths (Ages 6-12) $8.00, and Children 5 & Under FREE. Both nights the Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, Qualifying 5:30, and Racing begins right around 6:45.

Support classes for the Friday night program will be Late Models and Street Stocks while Saturday will feature IMCA Modifieds and the Quality RV Repair Hornets. For the latest news and information regarding the Western Sprint Tour log on to sprints.nwextremeseries.com.
