Cottage Grove, Oregon- It will be a full on invasion of Southern Oregon drivers on Friday April 24th and Saturday the 25th as the Western Sprint Tour will be hosting two exciting events this weekend at the Cottage Grove Speedway. One of the drivers looking for a win at the Spring Showdown, as the weekend is being called, is Garen Linder.

Linder, who calls Central Point home, has put up some good finishes in just a few starts to the 2015 season. His first race he competed in was at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California on Friday March 27th. In that event he would finish sixth in the feature. Even though it was a non-sanctioned race it would have several California big names on hand such as Rico Abreu, Jonathan Allard, Andy Forsberg, and Sean Becker just to name a few.

The following weekend he would be at Cottage Grove Speedway's Saturday April 4th Season Opener. After a lap one incident which would force him to go to the work area, Linder charged from eleventh all the way up to second place and nearly won the race on the final lap.

“That race felt really good and we were going into CG with some confidence after the race in Chico,” commented Linder, “we charged through and finished good despite a flat in the first couple of laps.”

Last weekend they showed some speed at Southern Oregon Speedway but had mechanical issues and had to retire early. But rest assured the Linder Powdercoating/Rodgers Racing Engines/Visual EFX Signs & Graphics #22 KPC will be a force to reckon with on the WST tour. With five races in the Southern Oregon/Northern California vicinity it will greatly benefit teams like Linder to travel a little bit less versus in the past.

“With all the races at Yreka and Medford it really benefits a team from my area with races close by, especially the ones on Fridays, for people that have to work.”

Admission prices for the WST events on Friday and Saturday are Adults $15.00, Juniors/Seniors/Military $13.00, Youths (Ages 6-12) $8.00, and Children 5 & Under FREE. Both nights the Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, Qualifying 5:30, and Racing begins right around 6:45.

Support classes for the Friday night program will be Late Models and Street Stocks while Saturday will feature IMCA Modifieds and the Quality RV Repair Hornets. For the latest news and information regarding the Western Sprint Tour log on to sprints.nwextremeseries.com.
