Cottage Grove, Oregon- Cottage Grove Speedway is excited to get back to racing this weekend as there will be two events taking place. The racing weekend starts up on Friday May 8th for Kage Karts while Saturday night is Springfield Chamber of Commerce/Pepsi Family Night. Pepsi Family Night means folks who purchase a Family Pass (consisting of two adults and up to four youths) for $30.00 will receive complimentary small sodas courtesy of Pepsi. Classes competing include the Northwest Wingless Tour, IMCA Modifieds, Quality RV Repair Hornets, and the Late Models will be taking on the travelers of the Northwest Late Model Series.
General admission to the Kart race on Friday will be FREE of charge. Pit Passes are $10.00 and Car and Driver fees will be $35.00. The Pit Gate will open up around 3:00 PM and the Pit Meeting is at 6:00 PM with Hot Laps and Racing to follow
The Northwest Wingless Tour will race for the first time in 2015 and CGS is a place that they've visited on many occasions. It is guaranteed to produce some great action as several of these Non-Wing 360 Sprint drivers are Winged 360 regulars. If you've never seen a Non-Wing Sprint Car race then you're missing out.
The Late Models should be a real treat to watch as not only the local teams will race but the regulars of the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series. Joey Tanner won the first race of the season for the NELMS series up at Sunset Speedway Park on April 25th. In local competition at Cottage Grove Curtis Towns has a total of three wins with his streak being snapped by Jesse Williamson last week.
The IMCA Modifieds will also be back in the house. In two races there have been two different winners. Jesse Williamson won the first race on April 4th while Braedon Hand was victorious last week. The Modifieds are always good for an exciting race at Cottage Grove that will take your breath away.
Finally the Quality RV Repair Hornets have yet to see a repeat winner this season. In three races three different drivers have hoisted the trophy. They include Joe Maricle, Dan Jenkinson, and last week Jim Simmons. Will it be four different winners in four races this Saturday?
On Saturday Admission prices are Adults $13.00, Juniors/Seniors/Military $10.00, Youths (Ages 6-12) $5.00, and 5 & Under FREE. Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, Qualifying 5:30, and Racing begins right around 6:45.
