Cottage Grove Speedway would feature some great racing on Saturday May 23rd for the first of two nights of racing on the historic 1/4-mile clay oval. Classes in action were the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints, IMCA Sport Mods, Street Stocks, and the Quality RV Repair Hornets.

Thurston's Ricky Ashley set a fast pace in the Clark Printing Extreme Sprint feature. The Clark Printing/Todd's Auto Body/BC Motorsports/Team 85 #85 Rocket, of Ashley, would lose the lead shortly after a restart late in the race. The driver that would overtake him was Dave Hibbard of Medford. Hibbard, driving his C&H Motorsports/Dave's Carpet & Vinyl Liquidators/Tangible Real Estate Investments #3 Zeitler, would hold on the rest of the distance to win his second race of the season.

Gene Ashley, of Jasper, would battle hard with Cottage Grove's Jimmy Owen in the IMCA Sport Mod feature. Ashley would swap the lead a couple of times with the Steelhouse Metal Roofing Supply/Quality RV Repair/Devine Continuous Gutters/Bonnichson Auto Repair #38 entry of Owen throughout the race. But Ashley would secure the lead in the last few laps to pick up his third win of the season in his Ashley Family Racing/A-1 Auto Supply #85 machine.

It was dominance in the Street Stocks once again. And Eugene's Chris Sine would show the way. Sine would build a large lead over the rest of the field. He would score his fourth straight win of the season in his Pro Auto Racing/Pure Romance By April/Murphy Plywood/Quantum Mechanics #24 Camaro.

Finally in the Quality RV Repair Hornets it would be a bit of a war of attrition. Marcola's Brandon Letsom managed to out run the competition to have the lead for much of the feature. Letsom would win his first career main event in the Letsom Racing #23 Toyota Echo.

Cottage Grove Speedway returns to action on Sunday May 24th for the final race of the Memorial Day Weekend. The Western Sprint Tour 360 Sprints make their return while support classes include the IMCA Modifieds and Quality RV Repair Hornets. Tickets are Adults $15.00, Juniors/Seniors/Military $13.00, Youths (Ages 6-12) $8.00, and 5 & Under FREE.
