The IMCA Modifieds would be in competition at Cottage Grove Speedway on Friday July 3rd and was the support class to the Western Sprint Tour. There would be some great racing in the main event and would have a good car count too with twenty teams in the pit area.

Medford's Monte Bischoff would grab the early race lead in his Payroll Specialties Inc./Hoppes Construction/Lucas Oil Products #F1 High Side by Kyle Strickler entry. Bischoff possessed the position for some time before Collen Winebarger would make it past him on lap nine. Winebarger, driving the Discount Race Car Parts/Frisbie Motorsports/FinishLine Graphics/Sweere Trucking #S Shaw by Taylor seemed to be on rails and on his way to his first victory of the season but Mark Carrell had other plans in mind.

Utilizing the bottom of the race track Mark Carrell, of Redmond, would finesse the throttle and worked his way underneath Winebarger on lap eighteen. Carrell would start to distance himself, driving the Mark's Auto Body #27 GRT by Phillips, but in the closing laps Winebarger got up on the wheel and started to reel him back in. But Carrell would beat Winebarger at the line to score his first win of 2015 at CGS.

Collen Winebarger was a respectable second placed followed by the Superior Fuel Cells/IBEW Local 280/Valley Rose Construction/West End Performance #24 X-Factor of Curtis Towns from Cottage Grove in third. The rest of the top five would be made up of Cottage Grove's Kreg Britton in his Commonwealth Financial Network/Dot's Trophy Shop/Mickey's Affordable Auto Sales/Superior Fuel Cells #77 X-Factor in fourth while behind him in fifth was the Embers Bar & Grill/Springfield Tire Factory/T.L. Morgan Motors/Clint Willis Racing Engines #5M Dirt Works of Jake Mayden from Springfield.

Cottage Grove Speedway is back in action on Independence Day this Saturday July 4th. The Western Sprint Tour 360 Sprints will be on the card as well as the IMCA Sport Mods and Vintage Cars. To cap the whole night off there will be a Demolition Derby and Fireworks display. Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 4:00, and Racing starts at 6:45. Ticket are Adults $15.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $13.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $8.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE. Log on to www.cottagegrovespeedway.com for more information.
