The final leg of the 2015 Speedweek Northwest would see the Western Sprint Tour be back at Cottage Grove Speedway on Independence Day Saturday July 4th. A jammed pack house of fans would be in attendance for the night and the racing would be stellar from start to finish. A total of twenty-four entries would sign in representing Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, and Montana as well as the nations of Australia and New Zealand. The finale main event would pay $5,000.00 to the winner.

A great battle for the lead would be waged for the top spot with three lead changes in the first lap. Kyle Hirst, from Chico, California in the Scott and Jason Finley owned Finley Farms/CLT Logging/Rider Racing Engines #77 Maxim, would pace the field on the first lap but lost the position on the following lap to Trey Starks, Starks, of Puyallup, Washington and driving his Starks Timber Processing/Southland Equipment Limited/MASCO Petroleum/T&C Concepts #55 J&J, would have brief control of the spot as he would give the lead back to Hirst on lap three.

A couple of cautions would keep the field bunched up tight and disallowed Hirst from constructing a massive interval even though he seemed very fast. Hirst would receive quite a bit of pressure after a lap twelve restart. Roger Crockett would chase him down and get by him on lap sixteen.

Crockett would be threatened a little bit by Hirst but unfortunately Hirst would get into the front stretch wall on lap twenty-three. A few more restarts gave challengers some ammunition to overtake Crockett but the Rocket Designs/Auto Stitch Embroidery/BC Motorsports/Parker Racing Engines #11 KPC, of Crockett, was just a little bit faster. Crockett would win the feature to earn his first win of the week, his nineteenth career Speedweek victory, and the sixth time he has won a Speedweek race at CGS.

The Wright Processing Systems/Larry Davis Farms/Tech9 Chassis/Stewart Ranch #94 Tech9 of Steven Tiner from Visalia, California was second and Phil Dietz, from Billings, Montana, managed to earn an impressive third in his Prevost Racing/Dietz Auto Inc./Pacific Steel & Recycling/Staley's Automotive #72 Maxim. The rest of the top five would be made up of the Jim and Anette Van Lare owned Bianchi Farms/Cameron & Cameron Vineyard & Ranch Supplies/Kyle Larson Racing/Van Lare Steering Repair #5V A.R.T. driven by Roseville, California's Colby Copeland, in fourth, and Justyn Cox, of Clarksburg, California, was fifth in his Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/P.M. Truck Repair/Trex Plastic Decking #31C A.R.T.

Trey Starks would be fast time of the night and Kyle Hirst earned the pole starting position of the feature after winning the trophy dash. Heat winners were Colby Copeland, Central Point's Garen Linder in his Linder Powedercoating/Visual EFX & Designs/Rodgers Racing Engines #22 KPC, and Steven Tiner. The American Wall Covering/Rocky Mountain Collision/American Truss Systems/Schwanke Racing Engines #12P Eagle of Meridan, Idaho pilot Randy Pierce would be victorious in the consolation feature.

Colby Copeland would be declared the 2015 Speedweek Northwest champion after winning the first three events and posting six top five finishes in all six starts. It marked the eleventh time that a Californian has won Speedweek. He joins Steve Kent, a four-time winner, and Brent Kaeding, a two-time winner, as well as Bud Kaeding, Brad Furr, Kyle Larson, and Kyle Hirst. Kyle Hirst was second in points followed by Roger Crockett, Steven Tiner, and Justyn Cox.

The Western Sprint Tour will prepare for the Ore-Cal Challenge in the month of August for their next two races. It will start off with a $5,000.00 to win main event at Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, California on Friday August 14th and then they will cross the border on Saturday the 15th to visit Southern Oregon Speedway.
