Cottage Grove Speedway Kicks Off Four Race In Five Nights This Friday With June 10th Kage Kart Race
Cottage Grove, Oregon- If you like racing then Cottage Grove Speedway is going to be the place just for you this weekend. The famed ¼-mile clay oval will be racing four times in five nights and will see some of the best racing in the country. It is definitely going to be a time spent where it will be non-stop action at breathtaking speeds.
It all starts on Friday June 10th with the Kage Karts. This will be the third race of the season for the program and features some of the upcoming talent of CGS. For the Kart races General Admission is FREE and Pit Passes are $10.00 and Car and Driver fees will be $35.00. The Pit Gate will open up around 4:00 PM and the Pit Meeting is at 6:00 PM with Hot Laps and Racing to follow.
Saturday June 11th will see racing return to the ¼-mile with a full card for the Prelude to the Wallbanger. Street Stocks, Clark Printing Extreme Sprints, Late Models, IMCA Sport Mods, Quality RV Repair Hornets, and Dwarf Cars are all on tap for a terrific night of action. Tickets are Adults $13.00, Juniors/Seniors $10.00, Youth (6-12) - $5.00, Family Pass $30.00, and Children 5 or under are FREE. As will happen all year long in honor of our 60th Anniversary the 60th fan through the Front Gate gets in for FREE.
The Street Stocks will get some important track time as the prestigious Wallbanger Cup is just around the corner. Although they have only ran twice this year the two events have been exciting. Defending track champion Chris Sine has won both legs and is looking to capture this year's Wallbanger.
Patrick Dills became the newest winner in the Clark Printing Extreme Sprint with his victory last Saturday. Dusty Redmond has won twice while other 2016 victory lane visitors include Ricky Ashley and Dave Hibbard.
In the Late Models they have only ran twice at CGS this year. Britton Donahoo and Darren Coffell are the two winners in those events. In the IMCA Sport Mods Jorddon Braaten has been a perfect four wins in four appearences.
The Quality RV Repair Hornets has recently seen the rise of Joe Maricle as he won his third straight main event last week. He is now tied with Josh Corley, who is also at three, with most wins in the current campaign. K.C. Scott is the only single race winner after emerging triumphant at the Season Opener.
Last time the Dwarf Cars were in action there were over thirty entries from Oregon, Washington, and California. Josh Kind managed to get the win last time out in a totally action filled feature.
Monday June 13th and Tuesday the 14th will see the Wild West Modified Shootout come to town. There will be some of the best IMCA Modified drivers in the country, as well as Canada, make their way to Cottage Grove for two nights of racing. Tickets are $8.00 and Kids (5 and Under) get in for FREE. Or you can buy a two-day pass for just $10.00!
Mark Wauge is the only driver to have won more than once in the Mods at CGS this year. Jesse Williamson, Collen Winebarger, Kinzer Cox, and most recently Jake Mayden have also visited the winner’s circle.
