Cottage Grove, Oregon- Cottage Grove Speedway would return to racing after a week hiatus on Saturday, May 5th for Fan Appreciation Night. Four classes would be on tap for action at the historic ¼-mile clay oval. Divisions included the Todd’s Auto Body Sprint Cars, Mohawk Metal IMCA Modifieds, Late Models, IMCA Sport Mods, and Quality RV Repair Hornets.

Tyler Thompson, of Harrisburg, would park it in the winner’s circle in the Todd’s Auto Body Sprint Car main event. Jake Waddell, from Roseburg, got second while finishing third would be Thurston’s Ricky Ashley. Colby Carter, of Cottage Grove, managed to get fourth and Junction City’s Shane Forte was fifth.

Albany’s Bricen James would collect his second triumph of 2018 in the Mohawk Metal IMCA Modifieds. Springfield chauffeur Jake Mayden would be the runner-up with Curtis Towns, of Cottage Grove, got third. Phoenix veteran Jeremy Richey came across the wire in fourth over fifth finishing Aaron Sheelar, of Springfield.

In Late Model competition Mike George, from Coos Bay, finished first when the checkered flag would drop. Sweet Home’s Kye Frick posted a second place result followed by Coos Bay’s Preston Luckman, in third. The rest of the top five would consist of Chuck Christian, from Eugene, getting fourth while Albany’s Josh Sim was fifth.

Phoenix’s Justin McCreadie picked up the first IMCA Sport Mod victory of 2018 at CGS. Jorddon Braaten, out of Central Point, was a respectable second over third finishing Matt Sanders. Springfield drivers Daniel Ray and Jayson Nelson were fourth and fifth respectively.

Last but not least in the Quality RV Repair Hornets Josh Corley, of Westfir, would reign supreme. Graig Osborne was second ahead of Jasper’s Eric Ashley, driving for car owner Randy Kuhl. Fourth went to Rich Dickenson, of Roseburg, while grabbing fifth was Jasper’s Gene Ashley.

Cottage Grove Speedway returns to racing on Saturday, May 12th for Mom’s Night. All mothers get into the races for FREE. Classes will consist of Todd’s Auto Body Sprints, Mohawk Metal IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pacific Hardtop Racing Association Dwarf Cars, and the OTRA Hardtops.
