Cottage Grove, Oregon- In addition to the Wingless Sprint Series at Cottage Grove Speedway on Saturday, June 16th, four other classes would be in attendance. These included the Mohawk Metal IMCA Modifieds, Late Models, Super Sports, and Quality RV Repair Hornets.

Cottage Grove’s Evan Britton paced the field for the first two laps of the Mohawk Metal IMCA Modified feature. Britton held on until being overtaken on lap three by Steven Sturdevant, of Springfield. Sturdevant remained there until the ninth circuit when Coburg chauffeur made it passed him. Bricen James would blaze his way to the top spot on lap thirteen and remained there the balance of the distance. It would be the third victory for the Albany teenager in 2018 at CGS.

In the Late Models a terrific battle up front would take place for several laps. The two players were Mike George, from Coos Bay, and Eugene’s Chuck Christian. The two drivers would pass one another back and forth for several laps. Kye Frick would enter the fray and overtook then leader Christian on lap fourteen. Christian would get it back on lap eighteen only for Frick to get back around him two laps later. Once securing the position on lap twenty Frick, out of Sweet Home, went the rest of the distance as the leader to win it, his first of the current campaign.

The Super Sports made their first appearance of 2018 at Cottage Grove Speedway. Albany veteran Randy Barley showed the way early but was overtaken on lap twelve shortly after a restart. The driver getting around him was Brian Smith, from Sweet Home. Smith would check out but unfortunately was caught up in a wreck in heavy lapped traffic on the twenty-second circuit. Barley would be given back the lead and stayed out there the rest of the way for the triumph.

Lastly, the Quality RV Repair Hornets would witness pure domination from it’s latest rising star. Creswell’s Graig Osborne would make it to first on lap two. He would set a rapid pace and would have a large gap separating himself and second place that occasionally exceeded half of a lap. Osborne would pick up the victory for his third consecutive trip to the winner’s circle.

Cottage Grove Speedway returns to racing on Saturday, June 23rd, for the 2018 Wallbanger Cup. The Interstate Sprint Car Series and the Road To The Iron Giant Series will all be in attendance. Other classes on the card include the Late Models and Quality RV Repair Hornets. For more information log on to www.cottagegrovespeedway.com.
