Kyle Miller Scores Huge WSS Win At CGS

Cottage Grove, Oregon- For the third occasion in 2018 the Wingless Sprint Series would venture to Cottage Grove Speedway. The ¼-mile clay oval would have nineteen Non-Wing Sprints from the states of Oregon, Washington, and California in attendance.

At the drop of the green flag during the main event Rob Lindsey would set the pace early. Lindsey, of Sherwood, would get passed on the following lap by Thurston’s Ricky Ashley. Ashley maintained the position for the vast majority of the race despite several stoppages that would bunch up the field.

A late race restart, with just seven laps to go, would have Ricky Ashley attempt to hold off a charging Kyle Miller. Miller, now residing in Salem and racing for car owner Kady Adelman, started dead last and searched everywhere on the race track to try and make it around the leader. On the final lap the two would attack and counterattack one another on several occasions with Miller edging out Ashley at the wire. Miller earned his first win of the season and is the third different winner in as many races at CGS with the Wingless Sprint Series in 2018.

Ricky Ashley was a respectable second over Eagle Creek’s Lindsay Barney, in third. The rest of the top five would consist of fourth finishing Lance Hallmark, of McMinnville, and Salem chauffeur Tim Alberding, in fifth. Kyle Miller was the winner of the Speedmart Inc. Hardcharger Award.

Ricky Ashley was the Walker Racing Development Fast Time Award winner while Tim Alberding won the Trophy Dash. Heat race victories went to Ashley, Lindsay Barney, and Alberding.

The Wingless Sprint Series are right back at it this Saturday, June 23rd, when they head to Willamette Speedway, in Lebanon. For the latest news and information log on to wingless.nwextremeseries.com .
