Cottage Grove, Oregon- Despite a wacky offseason which witnessed a massive snowstorm and flooding it appears that things are a go for the 2019 Season Opener at Cottage Grove Speedway. The historic ¼-mile clay oval will get things started on Saturday, April 20th and has a special Easter Eggstavaganza (featuring over 2000 eggs and an appearance by the Easter Bunny at intermission) planned during the night. Classes in competition include the Wingless Sprint Series, Late Models, Mohawk Metal IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Hornets.

Since 2016 the Wingless Sprint Series has visited “The Grove” nine times and has had four different winners. Kyle Miller has won the lion’s share of those events with six triumphs to his credit. One-time winners include Cooper Desbiens, Rob Lindsey, and Tim Alberding. Last season, at CGS, Preston Luckman dominated the Late Model ranks with his seven trips to victory lane in sixteen starts while Jake Mayden managed a pair of wins in his title winning Mohawk Metal IMCA Modified season with Bricen James scoring the most triumphs, at eight.

The Street Stock championship was won by Ray Bloom with five victories while Andrew Langan recorded the most, with five. The Hornet ranks had an incredible showdown that went down to the final race. Graig Osborne not only won the championship but had eight wins over runner up Josh Corley who managed to obtain seven trips to the winner’s circle.

Pit Gates open at 1:00 PM, Front Gates 3:30, Time Trials at 5:30, and Racing is scheduled to get kicked off around 6:00. Tickets are $13.00 for Adults, Seniors/Juniors/Military $10.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, and Children (5 & Under) are FREE. CGS offers a Family Pass (2 Adults and up to 4 Youths) for $35.00, VIP Skybox Seating is $25.00 each, and Pit Passes are $30.00.
