Cottage Grove, Oregon- The 2019 Northwest Dwarf Car Speedweek made a return to Cottage Grove Speedway, for the second consecutive night, on Wednesday, August 14th. The race was initially supposed to be held at Willamette Speedway, but the track was unable to host the event. Thirty-two cars were on hand for the ace with drivers from all of the western United States as well as the Canadian province of British Columbia.

Josh Rodgers was impressive in the early goings of the main event. The St. Helens pilot put together a fantastic run despite a constant barrage of challenges from behind. Shawn Jones, of San Jose, California got around Rodgers on the fourth circuit and began to pull away from the rest of the field.

Jones remained upfront for some time. But, his large interval over the rest of the competition was cut down due to a couple of incidents. After a lap fourteen restart, Shawn had his hands full with Ryan Winter. Winter, from Galt, California, sliced and diced with Jones before Ryan took over the coveted position on lap seventeen.

Ryan Winter checked out for the balance of the distance to win his first Northwest Dwarf Car feature of 2019. Winter is the second different victor in three races on the tour schedule. Ryan also got the job done last Saturday during the Western States Dwarf Car Association sanctioned National event at CGS.

Shawn Jones was second while El Cajon, California’s Darren Brown posted a third-place effort. The rest of the top five consisted of Chad Cardoza, from Trail, in fourth over fifth finishing Danny Wagner, of Bay Point, California.

Qualifying was divided into four groups. Earning quick time awards were Ryan Winter, Santa Maria, California chauffeur Brandon Wiley, Shawn Jones, and Josh Rodgers. Heat race winners comprised of Winter, Fairfield, California veteran Mike Grenert, Jones, and John Chrisman of Hillsboro. Danny Wagner was the winner of the B Main.

Stop five of the 2019 Northwest Dwarf Car Speedweek is Thursday, August 15th at Sunset Speedway Park, in Banks. The facility is the smallest on the entire schedule but has seen lots of Dwarf action this season.

Ticket prices are $13.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, and Kids (5 & Under) are FREE. A Family Pass (Two Adults and up to four Youths (6-12)) is offered for $35.00 while Premium Seats are available for $25.00 each. Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, with racing kicking off at 6:00. For more information, log on to www.sunsetspeedwaypark.com.
