Cottage Grove, Oregon- While the Western Sprint Tour was in town on Saturday, July 17th, so too were two other divisions at Cottage Grove Speedway. The historic ¼-mile clay oval had both IMCA Modifieds and Street Stocks in attendance for the final night of the weekend.

Jeffrey Hudson was the car to beat in the IMCA Modified main event. Racing for car owner Don Roemer, Hudson had to worry about one restart due to a yellow. Nevertheless, the Keno racer collected his second 2021 victory Cottage Grove Speedway, KMJ Performance Oregon State, and Shaw Race Cars Western Region action.

Albany racer Matthew Drager was the runner-up while third at the line being Paul Culp, from Springfield. The winner from the previous evening, Cottage Grove’s Curtis Towns, hit the line fourth, followed by fifth finishing Jake Mayden, from Springfield.

In Street Stock action, Graig Osborne continued his dominance.
The only thing to slow the Creswell chauffeur down was a pair of stoppages. Nevertheless, Osborne scored his sixth victory on the current campaign at CGS in what has been an incredible race season.

Anthony Prather, from Keizer, was an impressive runner-up, with third going to Dexter’s Taunton Swaim. The rest of the top five consisted of Larry Owens of Eugene, and Junction City racer Troy Chamberlain, in the fourth and fifth positions.

Cottage Grove Speedway returns to racing with Kage Karts kicking the weekend off on Friday, July 23rd. The 24th will be reserved for the Curt Deatherage Memorial Historical Night and Timber Unity Logger’s Cup. The Logger’s Cup will be the highest paying Late Model race at “The Grove” in 2021. The Todd’s Auto Body Sprints and IMCA Sport Compacts will also be in attendance. For more information, log on to the track website or be sure and check out the Facebook page.
