Cottage Grove, Oregon- After being absent from the 2020 race schedule, Cottage Grove Speedway welcomed the return of the Marvin Smith Memorial Grove Classic on Friday, August 6th. 360 Sprints, Late Models, and Street Stocks filled the pit area.

Cobble Hill, British Columbia racer Robbie Price scored a massive win in the Blake Cook-owned machine. He is the fifth different winner in six shows in 2021. Harrisburg’s Tyler Thompson was the runner-up with Steven Snawder, from Roseburg, behind him in third. In fourth and fifth, the rest of the top five consisted of Trey Starks of Puyallup, Washington, and Boise, Idaho racer Logan Forler. Forler, earlier in the night, won the consolation feature.

A new winner graced victory lane in the Late Models. Redding, California’s Brian Hubert became the eighth different driver in nine races to win at Cottage Grove. Rob Campos, from Scio, was second, and Albany veteran Randy Barley ended the race third. Mike Peter, of Cottage Grove, hit the line fourth with Bellfountain’s Willie Sutton placing fifth.

Dexter’s Taunton Swaim tamed the field once more. Swaim has procured his third triumph on the campaign at CGS. Graig Osborne, from Creswell, was the runner-up, while the third-place position was credited to Eugene driver Adam Applebee. Teenager Anthony Prather of Keizer was scored fourth over fifth, finishing Melissa Adams, who made the long journey from Yakima, Washington.

Cottage Grove Speedway returns to racing action on Saturday, 7th, for the final round of the Marvin Smith Memorial Grove Classic. 360 Sprints will be battling it out for $4100 to win, while Late Models and IMCA Sport Compacts will also be on hand.
