Cottage Grove, Oregon- Cottage Grove Speedway returned to racing on Independence Day, Monday, July 4th, for their third straight night of action. The historic ¼-mile clay oval hosted the last leg of the 2022 Freedom Cup. Four divisions were in the pit area, including the Todd's Auto Body Sprint Cars, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods presented by Royalty Core Custom Grille and Truck Parts, Street Stocks, and Mach-1 Racing Solutions IMCA Sport Compacts.

David Marble got to the front on the opening start of the Todd's Auto Body Sprint feature. However, the Shady Cove driver would be passed shortly after a restart on lap eighteen by Carly Holmes.
Holmes, from Jacksonville, set a blistering pace once at the point.

Unfortunately, she would get tangled with another car while putting them a lap down. It resulted in her crashing out of the race. The main event would have to be called early due to being so close to curfew, and David Marble was declared the winner.

Coos Bay teenager Austin Sause was the runner-up, while Shane Forte, from Junction City, got third. Johnny Burke of Eagle Point beat Roseburg's Justin Walker for fourth.

Jacob Hoppes blazed the trail early in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods presented by Royalty Core Custom Grille & Truck Parts main event. Brookings's chauffeur Steven Sanders passed the Eagle Point racer on lap twelve.
Sanders, whose two brothers had visited victory lane the first two nights, had a fast hot rod the rest of the way.

However, he would be hunted down by his brother Isaac. Nevertheless, Isaac Sanders successfully got into first place on lap twenty-eight to win his third race of 2022 at Cottage Grove Speedway. Steven Sanders was a respectable second, with Salem teenager Trevor Points placing third. Daniel Ray from Springfield earned fourth, with fifth going to Tanner Krohling of La Center, Washington. Isaac Sanders also won the Freedom Cup title.

The Street Stock main event had Dalton Bloom kick things off as the trailblazer. The Lebanon motorist held the position until lap ten, when Taunton Swaim made it around him. After that, from Dexter, Swaim had a reign of four circuits. After that, Dalton reclaimed the top spot and dominated the balance of the distance.

It was Bloom's second win on the weekend. Taunton Swaim and Jasper's Andrew Langan, in the Josh Linville-owned enter, were second and third. Eric Freeman, from Cottage Grove, hit the line fourth over fifth finishing Brad Hicks of Creswell. Andrew Langan was the overall Freedom Cup champion.

Unfortunately, the Mach-1 Racing Solutions IMCA Sport Compacts could not run their Froggy 44 main event, which has been rescheduled for a later date. However, racing returns to Cottage Grove Speedway on Saturday, July 9th, for Ladies Night. All Ladies (18 years or older) get FREE general admission, and the first 100 lady guests that enter through the front gates will receive a complimentary gift. Classes on the card include 360 Sprints, Late Models, Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, and Street Stocks. For more information, log on to www.cottagegrovespeedway.com.
