Trenchard Wins Opening Night Of Mark Howard Memorial Modified Nationals At Cottage Grove; A. Bloom Also Victorious

Cottage Grove, Oregon- Cottage Grove Speedway returned to racing on Friday, August 5th, for the opening night of the Mark Howard Memorial Modified Nationals. IMCA Modifieds and the Royalty Core Custom Grill & Truck Parts IMCA Northern SportMods were all in attendance. Over twenty entries per class filled the pit area.
Nick Trenchard reigned supreme in the IMCA Modifieds at CGS for the second straight race. The Klamath Falls gasser, racing for Biehn Racing, also won the Race of Champions later in the program. Redmond veteran Mark Carrell was the runner-up, with Jake Mayden of Springfield earning third.
Bricen James, from Albany and racing for car owner Jerry Schram, placed fourth with Corbett’s Collen Winebarger in the Jimmy Schram fielded machine, rounding up the top five in fifth. John Campos of Keizer won the consolation feature.
Aaron Bloom slew the competition in the Royalty Core Custom Grill & Truck Parts IMCA Northern SportMods. It would be an all-Bloom podium as Aaron’s cousin Hunter and his father Ray were second and third. The brothers Sanders from Brookings were fourth and fifth in the finishing order.
