Cottage Grove, Oregon- The Northwest Focus Midget Series continued their trek alongside the NARC 410 Sprint Series, and the group found themselves at Cottage Grove Speedway on Friday, June 15th. Racing for the third time in as many nights, the series boasted a great field of seventeen cars to tackle the historic ¼-mile clay oval.
Wednesday night winner Levi Harless was the frontrunner at the start of the twenty-five-lap finale, setting the stage for a thrilling competition. Harless tried to pull away from the rest of the field. Still, the Arlington, Washington driver attracted some fast company with the likes of Alex Peck. Peck, running for the first time during the week, made an incredible pass on the inside lane in turn four to become the new race leader on the third circuit.
As the race stayed incident-free, it allowed some heavy-lapped traffic to come into play, posing a challenge for the frontrunners. Fortunately for the Fife, Washington native Peck, he was able to make excellent decisions while cutting through the tail end of the field to check out from the rest of the field and win the main event. He is the third different winner in as many nights.
Ashley Thompson, also from Arlington, rallied to a second-place result. At the same time, Thursday night winner Nick Evans, representing Granite Falls, Washington, was third. Harless ended his evening fourth, followed by Sedro-Woolley, Washington’s Chad Pritchard in fifth.
